92.1 WLHR is a regional but locally-focused FM radio station that serves Franklin and Hart Counties in Northeast Georgia along the shores of Lake Hartwell, the second largest lake east of the Mississippi River. Known as “Lake Hartwell Radio,” 92.1 WLHR provides service to a total of nine Georgia counties and two South Carolina counties. WLHR is the only community FM radio station in Franklin, Hart, Stephens, Madison and Jackson Counties. In addition to mainstream and Classic Country music, WLHR maintains a full-time local news department staffed by two reporters. The music is Country with a traditional slant. From 6 a.m. until 7 p.m. daily, WLHR airs music, concentrating on big Country hits of the past couple of years. From 7 p.m. until 6 a.m. daily, 92.1 WLHR is the only radio station within 100 miles that airs Classic Country music – major hits of the 1970s and 1980s, with selected hits of the 1960s plus a few from the 1950s. While this unique Country music mix is unlike any other station in the area, it’s carefully researched to appeal to the largest segment of population in the WLHR coverage area. What really separates WLHR from other radio stations in the area is the local news, sports, weather and community information. Local news updates are heard throughout the broadcast day, complemented by top-of-the-hour ABC Radio News. An hourly Community Calendar feature updates local listeners on events in the immediate area. A popular classified ads program, Swap Shop, airs Monday-Friday from 9-9:30 a.m. featuring WLHR listeners. 92.1 WLHR is the daily local information source for the Lake Hartwell area. Daily obituary information is another popular feature. Live broadcasts of Franklin County High School football and basketball games are featured on WLHR, with live reports from Hart County High School games. Coverage Area The 92.1 WLHR transmitter and tall tower are located on a high ridge near Canon, Georgia. The site was chosen for its clear line of sight coverage from deep into Upstate South Carolina across Northeast Georgia and into the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. The station’s 5,600-watt crystal-clear FM stereo signal operates at full power 24 hours daily. In addition to its focus on Lavonia, Hartwell and Royston – the three principal communities WLHR serves – our primary signal coverage reaches the Northeast Georgia areas of Toccoa, Elberton, Cornelia, Clarksville, Commerce, Homer, Danielsville, as well as heavily-visited Lake Hartwell and Lake Russell.
